Who we are
LitSynth is a research tool built and operated by Solarpunk Works Pvt. Ltd. This policy covers LitSynth and the solarpunkworks.com website. It explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, where it is stored, and how you can have it deleted.
Operator: Solarpunk Works Pvt. Ltd.. Contact: support@solarpunkworks.com.
Information we collect
We collect only what the product needs to work. There is no advertising, no marketing tracking and no data broker in the loop.
- Account details from Google Sign-In. When you sign in with Google, Firebase Authentication gives us your name, email address and profile picture so we can create and identify your account.
- Documents you choose to import. When you pick PDFs in the Google Picker, LitSynth imports those files so you can read, search and synthesise them.
- Your OpenRouter API key, if you use the AI features. The key is stored encrypted on our server and is never shown back to you.
- Basic technical information needed to run the service, such as error logs and request metadata.
Google Sign-In (Firebase Authentication)
Signing in with Google is handled by Firebase Authentication. Google passes us your name, email address and profile picture. We use them to create your account, show who is signed in, and keep your library separate from everyone else's. We never receive your Google password.
Google Drive access
LitSynth requests only the drive.file scope. That scope is deliberately narrow: it lets the app see and open only the files you explicitly pick in the Google Picker, and nothing else in your Drive.
Files you pick are used only to import the chosen PDFs into your LitSynth library. We do not browse, list, scan or modify the rest of your Drive, and we do not use Drive files for any other purpose.
Where your data is stored
- Uploaded PDFs are stored in Google Cloud Storage.
- The text extracted from those PDFs, the text chunks and the embeddings are stored in Google Cloud Firestore.
- Both are private to your account. Your documents and their derived data are not visible to other users.
AI features and OpenRouter
LitSynth's AI features call OpenRouter with your own API key. Your key is stored encrypted on our server and is never displayed back to you after you save it.
When you ask a question, only the text needed for that request — your question and the relevant passages from your own documents — is sent to the model. We do not send your whole library, and we do not send your API key to anyone but OpenRouter.
How we use your information
- To provide the service: sign you in, import the PDFs you pick, and keep your library private to your account.
- To run the AI features you ask for, using your own OpenRouter key.
- To keep the service working and secure, and to diagnose faults.
- To answer you when you contact us.
- To meet our legal obligations.
What we never do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use your data for advertising.
- We do not use Google user data to train machine-learning models.
- We do not share your documents with other users.
Google API Services User Data Policy
LitSynth's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Read the policy: Google API Services User Data Policy
In short: Google user data is used only to provide and improve the features you asked for, is not transferred to others except as needed to run the service or as required by law, and is never used for advertising.
Retention and deletion
You can delete individual documents inside the app at any time. Deleting a document removes it, along with its extracted text, chunks and embeddings, from your library.
To delete your whole account and everything in it, email support@solarpunkworks.com from the address you signed up with. We will delete your account and its associated data, and confirm when it is done.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Your OpenRouter API key is stored encrypted at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it to operate the service.
Children
LitSynth is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
